Although I am writing this and our season is already over – a little earlier than hoped – thanks Covid 19, but I want to share some of my summer season memories as we are heading into winter. Plus I am in lockdown, so now is as good a time as any.

This year was different for everybody but some things didn’t change – the weather was fanstastic and the holidaymakers who were able to come to the campsite really made the most of it, plus sales for air conditioning units went up at Super U. As our bar is a large converted barn with high ceilings we were still able to continue serving with all social distancing measures in place and then on those warm evenings we could spread out through the whole campsite. There were many barbecues around the mobile homes and our local customers enjoyed their steak frites outside by the pool with up to 9 friends!

One of the only entertainment evenings we able to hold was the quiz night and right at the end, the night before curfew, we even managed one in french and english – I’m saving the questions in case I host a zoom quiz in the next 3 weeks…. We did manage to have a few fish and chip nights with Petes fabulous home made battered cod and chips and mushy peas. Compliments to the chef.

There were no official wine tasting evenings although there seemed to be a lot of unofficial ones taking place on the campsite. Pete and I may have gate crashed a few.

Thanks to some late summer sun in september I was able to make the most of the pool and passed a few relaxing afternoons with a book and a swim, I’m not sure if we will be able to travel this winter so I am hanging on to those memories and the laughter and conversation of clients, friends and family who visited to keep me going through lockdown.

Stay safe everyone.
